Heli-Fishing ~ Trout Fly Fishing the Karamea River
The Karamea River is renowned for it's brown trout fly fishing. Rising in the rugged
Allen Ranges, the river flows almost entirely through the beautiful Kahurangi
National Park. With crystal clear waters and remote access, the Karamea provides
a true wilderness experience for anglers. Flanked by slate cliffs and large
boulders, there are no tracks or roads, so prime fishing spots are generally
only accessible by helicopter.

World-Class Trout Fly Fishing ~ By Helicopter
This region of West Coast back country provides the ultimate fly fishing experience
for trout anglers. Brown trout here generally weigh between 4-6 lbs on average,
and can reach trophy size. There are several good huts in the area, so it's
generally worth getting flown in for at least a few days.
Private or guided heli-fishing trips can be tailored to suit. Karamea Helicharters
can also arrange fly fishing angling packages with local fishing guides, who have an initimate
knowledge of the river, fishing conditions and terrain.
River names such as the Leslie River, Roaring Lion River, Crow River, and the Ugly River are synonymous with world-class trout fly fishing in and around the Karamea area.
