Helicopter Charter Karamea is a family owned and operated business with over 25 years experience in the aviation industry. We are based in Karamea at the Northern end of the South Island's wild West Coast, the doorstep to the Kahurangi National Park and the Heaphy Track.

Our Robinson R44 Helicopter is the fastest and most exciting way to access the mountains, rivers and spectacular coastline of the Kahurangi National Park and West Coast of New Zealand. The possibilities are almost endless; Heli-fishing on 200km of world-class trout rivers, Heli-rafting or Heli-kayaking on rivers up to Grade 5, scenic flights over the Oparara Valley a quick and easy access for your hunting or tramping trips.

Heaphy & Wangapeka Track Transport, Pickup Shuttle Service

Heaphy Track transport is one of Helicopter Charter Karamea's specialities. A helicopter flight from Karamea to the northern end of the Heaphy Track takes a mere 20 minutes. Sure beats 460km of windy road by bus! With our Heli-Hiking Day Trips, fly to your choice of locations on the Heaphy or Wangapeka Track and hike out. We also offer the service of delivering your packs to the first hut of your walk, which means you can enjoy some creature comforts without having to carry them.

Mountain Biking the Heaphy Track, Kahurangi National Park

The helicopter comfortably seats three passengers and bikes, and can transport you to Browns Hut at 'the Collingwood end' of the Heaphy Track- no need for shuttles or extra biking! The helicopter trip takes less than 1/2 an hour.
